Soul Care for Caring Souls

The title sums up both the book and the person. The Scripture tells about Jesus feeding a multitude of people. When they finished eating, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of broken pieces (John 6:13-14 PHILLIPS). That's what Jesus does--pick up broken pieces.

"I am one of those broken pieces," says Chuck, born the son of northern Indiana sharecroppers in the late 1930s. Reared in the Christian faith, caring for oneself and others was a vital and natural response to living out Jesus's call to "love one another as I have loved you," as well as foundational to Chuck's life throughout high school, the United States Army, college life, teaching, university and hospice chaplaincy, and parish ministry.
