INFORMACIÓN, SABER Y PODER EN GALICIA A FINALES DEL ANTIGUO RÉGIMEN (ss. XVIII-XIX)

Esta obra, una investigación de temática innovadora, se enmarca en una corriente historiográfica en auge como es la Historia de la Información. A través del estudio de las prácticas informativas de tipo político-administrativo, el autor se ocupa del análisis de un territorio periférico como fue el Reino de Galicia a finales del Antiguo Régimen. Este período destacó por el interés de la Administración hacia la recopilación informativa a través de diferentes averiguaciones. El análisis de estas operaciones, del territorio, de los sistemas y prácticas informativas demuestra la notable complejidad de los procesos de recopilación informativa, sus límites y resistencias, que se hallaban condicionados por las propias características del modelo del Antiguo Régimen. Todo ello se encuadra en una lenta erosión del viejo orden, en las transformaciones en las relaciones de poder y saber entre gobernantes y gobernados y en un largo proceso de construcción del Estado.

This work, an investigation of innovative theme, is part of a booming historiographic current such as the Information History. Through the study of political-administrative information practices, the author deals with the analysis of a peripheral territory such as the Kingdom of Galicia at the end of the Ancien Régime. This period stood out for the interest of the Administration towards the gathering of information through different inquiries. The analysis of these inquiries, of the territory, of the informative systems and practices demonstrates the notable complexity of the information gathering processes, their limits and resistances, which were conditioned by the own characteristics of the Ancien Regime model. All this is framed in a slow erosion of the old order, in the transformations in the relations of power and knowledge between rulers and ruled and in a long State-building process.
