40+++ Years as a Volunteer Firefighter

I dedicated half of my life to a volunteer fire company. I did my part, other than going into the service. I am proud of my accomplishments, and now my two sons are following my ambition. Forty years at 10,000 hours is roughly 2,500 to 3,000 hours per year.

This is just a part of the risks and perils faced every day by paid and volunteer firefighters across the country. You don't know what you are getting into until you get there. Every call is different. I have the greatest respect for police and firefighters because I have been there, done that, and seen death many ways. But I saved a few lives along the way. I think I did my part in life.

This book is dedicated to my wife, children, and grandchildren whom I love all dearly. I am now eighty years old. I took fifty-five years of memories and tried to put in writing the worst of calls to the best of my knowledge, way over ten thousand calls.

My wife kept asking when I was going to write a book. I lost three years being her caregiver. I faced death in many ways, and they were all hard to take but nowhere near the death of my wife of fifty-six years. I finally got a chance to complete her wish.

I would also like to thank family and friends for all the help through the hard times. She passed on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025, after a downhill struggle with cancer for three years. Life is not normal anymore.
