A Return to Nature

During the postwar 1950s and turbulent 1960s, I grew up in a family of modest means. Over the years, despite budgetary constraints, my family would make the trek from New York to New Jersey to visit family and spend time at the wondrous Jersey Shore. For me, the shore, the beach to the coast of New Jersey was a magical place with its powerful messages, free-spirited explorations, and untapped resources. Later in life, as an adult and educator, I would again encounter this erudite teacher and friend. The lessons and the messages would be the same, although now deeper and more meaningful. May all who read this little book, especially young people, learn that the beauty and wisdom of life are often found in an awareness of the natural elements and their intrinsic simplicity.
