In the winter darkness of Revolutionary Paris, fear moves faster than kindness. As the sisters slowly realize they have been secretly sustained by an unseen benefactor, the mystery deepens. After Robespierre's fall, the abbe finally glimpses the truth in Paris and is left shaken by the stranger's identity, confronting the lingering moral wreckage of the Terror.
