John Thurston- Conklin Shows was the largest travelling amusement corporation in North America, its Conko the clown logo (featured on the cover image) is a familiar sight for millions of Americans and Canadians who attended their midways at local fairs and exhibitions
- A nostalgic story that offers insight into both founder Patty Conklin and his sons, as well as the thousands of carnival workers (carnies) who were employed at Conklin Shows
- Patty Conklin got his start selling peanuts outside of Madison Square Gardens in NY and ended his life as the king of the midway, with contracts in Toronto and across North America
- Author worked at the midway at the Canadian National Exhibition in the 1970s, giving him first-hand midway experience, and has access to the archives of the Conklin Group for his research
