Diakonia and Modern Slavery

Diakonia & Modern Slavery opens an interdisciplinary discussion between diaconal and slavery studies, focussing on modern slavery. It offers biblical, theological, legal and empirical sources as an input for this discussion and critically discusses the importance of the discourse on modern slavery for diakonia and Christian social practice. The authors address the continuity between colonial slavery and modern slavery, describe diaconal and social practices fighting exploitation and injustice, and suggest approaches that heal, restore dignity and create space for those having traumatic and dehumanizing experiences.
