- Author was born in Jamaica, and emigrated to Canada in 1976, where she had a career with Scotiabank and retired from the position of Senior Vice-President in 2002
- Author was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2003 until 2007 and served as minister of training, colleges and universities and then minister of children and youth services
- In June 2022, Dr. Chambers will be installed as the next Chancellor of the University of Guelph
