In a future still haunted by atomic war, engineer Roger Strang works at Barrier Base, a desperate defense project guarding North America from another catastrophe. His uneasy family life is shattered when his young son David is apparently attacked, first in a suspicious traffic incident and then in a brutal ambush outside the Base. Roger insists the danger is real, but Security chief Morrel dismisses him, and even his old friend Martin Drengo seems unable to help, deepening the atmosphere of paranoia and dread.
