Trouble arrives in style when Chief Axlegrease, an old medicine-show acquaintance turned oil-rich showman, rolls into town with a wagon, an elephant, lions, a tiger, a calliope, and a noisy entourage, turning the street into a carnival of bragging, suspicion, and comic one-upmanship.
