A rainy day in Philadelphia is all it takes to send Peter, a boy who has already known the wonders of Oz, spinning back into the magical land. When he finds a single gold coin among the old pirate sacks from his earlier adventure, his wish to return is answered at once, and he lands beside Jack Pumpkinhead's odd little pumpkin-shaped cottage. Jack, with his detachable head and cheerful bewilderment, becomes Peter's guide and comic companion as the boy learns that in Oz, even a coin's "change" can carry enchanted meaning. Meanwhile, in Baffleburg, vain Mogodore the Mighty plots invasion while captive Shirley Sunshine tries to delay his reckless ambitions. Peter, Jack, Belfaygor, Snif, and the Iffin press onward through ravines, cliffs, and a perilous tunnel, where courage, wit, and absurdity keep them moving toward danger and discovery.
