My First Summer in the Sierra

In 1869 the Sierra Nevada mountains were wild and relatively unknown territory. When Scottish naturalist John Muir visited the area that year, he kept a detailed diary of his findings. The book turned into a best-seller, tempting many to visit this beautiful area. Also, his book is a valuable document of the region's flora and fauna at the time.
