My Passion: Poetry

Poetry quenches my thirst and nourishes my soul. It quiets my heart during stressful times and thrills me with delight when I recall all of my childhood memories from the age of five. My first poem was written at the tender age of eight, eighty-four years ago. Writing this book of poetry (at least one-third of it) was done on my lunch hour at the Presbyterian Church, my place of employment as secretary for almost twenty years. The beauty of the stained-glass windows brought me peace and inspiration to write and know that God was near. My heart filled with joy as I hurriedly scribbled down my thoughts in that one-hour period. Favorite memories of our four sons with their antics will remain forever, and my ability to remember events from 1941 is truly a gift from God. His grace gave me the strength to overcome a deadly cancer so I could have a second chance to enjoy my twilight years.
