Oracles of Nostradamus

Charles A. Ward's Oracles of Nostradamus is a fervent, learned defense of the French seer's reputation, arguing that his dark quatrains conceal real prophecy rather than empty mystification. Ward presents prophecy as a genuine human faculty, a kind of latent sixth sense, and insists that Nostradamus's obscurity was deliberate: visions arrived whole, then were broken into verse, anagrams, and learned disguise to protect truths too disruptive to state openly.
