Terms of Enlistment

The contract is three hundred and twelve pages long. Kaelen Vane reads four of them. With inherited debt crushing him and his sister’s life support payments running out, enlistment is not a dream—it is the last door left open. The United Colonial Defense Force promises citizenship, debt forgiveness, and a future in exchange for service. Kaelen signs because desperate people do not get to negotiate.
