I signed up for the company pickleball night for one reason: to get my spreadsheet-loving, painfully cute coworker Garrett to finally notice me. There's just one problem. I've never touched a paddle in my life.

A few private lessons should fix that. But my instructor turns out to be grumpy, sarcastic, and best friends with the exact man I'm trying to impress.

Calder doesn't do small talk. He corrects my form, calls my bluff, and wins every argument on the court before I've even caught my breath. He's also, infuriatingly, the only person who can get me insider intel on Garrett.

By the third lesson, all of his snarky comments are getting to me, and instead of thinking about Garrett, Calder's words are running through my head. Even worse? He's starting to make sense.

When Garrett sees me with Calder, he finally starts to notice me. But I'm too busy noticing the wrong man...
