Originally published in 1930, this second volume in a series of three portrays the history of 1922 and 1923. In this volume, 1st Viscount D'Abernon centres on the occupation of the Ruhr by French troops; the events immediately preceding that occupation and leading up to it; the consequences of that occupation; and the results, "good and bad," which proceeded from it—"notably the dramatic collapse of German finance."
