The Last Trail

The last book of Zane Grey's Ohio River trilogy looks at the early stages of settlement in that area. It tells the story of romance on the frontier as settlers face gangs of outlaws raids from Native American tribes. The story is based on actual events in the author's family, with the female heroine based heavily on his grandmother.
