The Maine Woods

Henry David Thoreau spent the last years of his life editing these essays on his experiences traveling into Maine's hinterlands when they were quite wild. The book expands on his familiar themes, the love of nature and hostility towards modernity and urbanization. The book is perhaps the most environmentalist, in the modern sense, of all of Thoreau's works.
