The Mistake of Protestants Regarding the Brothers of Jesus, Children of Mary

M
Marco Tanzi

One of the mistakes of modern Protestants is the denial of the status of Christ as the only son of Mary. Mary's perpetual virginity was a view held by Calvin, Luther, Zwingli and many other fathers of the Protestant Reformation. However, the modern Protestants have gone against this founding fathers. This obsession for extreme separation from Catholicism, disregarding common fundamental doctrines, has led modern Protestantism, in its desire to correct the mistakes made by the Catholic church, to create new errors of their own. However, regardless of the noteworthy essential doctrines Catholics and Protestants have in common, Protestants have longed make their differences clear in such a drastict way that they have come to a morbid obsession for separation from everything that was considered Catholic, and that has led many Protestants to distort Scriptures and misinterpret them by calling "Catholic doctrine" the perpetual virginity of Mary, coming to the belief that Jesus had uterine brothers and completely forgetting that this doctrine of the perpetual virginity of mary was always defended, even by the orginial Protestant tradition. It was the Protestant theological rationalism of the 19th century that encouraged certain heterodoxical doctrines, leading to the ciriticism of the Biblical text in such a way that was foreign to Christianity's historical tradition, which has many common points with the early Protestant Reformers, since both Catholics and Protestants a descendants from the same identical millenary Christian tradition.
