The Sea Lady

First serialised in 'Pearson's Magazine', The Sea Lady: A Tissue of Moonshine, by H. G. Wells was published in book form in 1902. It is a fantasy novel about a mermaid who comes ashore on the southern coast of England. She is on a mission to seduce a man that had taken her fancy some years ago in the South Seas. Exploring themes of love, sex, and morals, H. G. Wells said that this book reflected his 'craving for some lovelier experience than life had yet given me'.
