As was once written, "It was the best of times and the worst of times." The Bradfords of Carroll County, Tennessee, were about to discover the true meaning of these words. Although this account is fictional, each chapter has a short summary of what was factually happening to the nation from 1850 to 1865. Kathy, the paper delivery girl, hides a secret that could cause harm to her family and friends. After war erupted, the Bradfords tried to stay neutral, but that was not to be. Bushwhackers were always a threat, and the Bradford family was devastated one morning in 1862. A group of coffee drinkers had the answer for regulation of justice in Carroll County, Tennessee.
